PRODUCT GUIDE 2014
include North Carolina
seafood in your upcom-
ing food purchases. If
you have questions about
where to source product,
need background informa-
tion or want to be involved
in helping to promote the
best from North Carolina,
let us know by contacting
John Aydlett, Seafood Mar-
keting Specialist for the
North Carolina Depart-
ment of Agriculture and
Consumer Services.
Whether it is wild-caught
seafood harvested by the
boats that work the deeply
etched coastline or farm-
raised seafood produced in
ponds, streams and recircu-
lating systems, North Caro-
lina seafood is a treasure to
be shared.
North Carolina is consis-
tently one of the top U.S.
producers of Atlantic blue
crab. Production of rainbow
trout in the pristine waters
of the state's western moun-
tains ranks second in the
nation. North Carolina is
also a leader in the expand-
ing aquaculture industry,
growing tilapia and yellow
perch in climate-controlled
recirculating systems.
The coastal plain, with its
natural aquifers, supports
the state's top-ranked cat-
fish and hybrid-striped bass
industries.
North Carolina has a
lot to offer seafood buy-
ers. We hope you will
W
hen you think of North Carolina, one of
the first things that comes to mind is the
wonderful bounty of seafood found in the
waters of this great state.
