For both, she takes an up-close look at the industry with trips to processing plants, cod, trout, salmon and mussel farms, and a day at sea on a groundfsh trawler in the Gulf of Maine. For this month's Top Story, she writes about labor abuse in the seafood industry. While there's been a greater emphasis on social responsibility in the seafood supply chain, she discovered that more needs to be done. Human rights' groups continue to uncover abuses — even when standards are in place to protect workers who are often low-paid migrants with no power to advocate for themselves. "As pointed out in the story, human rights aren't as complex as environmental issues to fx, but the market needs to insist that abuses won't be tolerated." n Contributing Editor Jason Holland embarked upon his career as an international B2B journalist and editor in 1990, but says he didn't fnd his "true calling" until 2004 when he started documenting the seafood industry. Home is a leafy part of London, where he lives with Claire and their son Lucas. n Contributing Editor Anthony Fletcher, who writes our Global Foodservice feature, is a freelance journalist who lives in Belgium with his wife and two children. When not writing about the food industry, Fletcher, originally from Scotland, enjoys playing guitar and discovering new types of Belgian beer. Join us...
