Dear SeaFood Business reader, As this issue went to press, folks in the Northeast were still digging out from the disaster wrought by Superstorm Sandy. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy — the list is miles long and the rebuilding will be years in the making. Food and clothing donations are sorely needed; I've included a list of some assistance organizations on my Editor's Note on page 4. Please do what you can to help the Sandy relief effort. After you've made your donation, spend some time reading the many features we have in this issue. Jason Holland's story on QR codes being used in U.K. retail outlets may inspire you to start scanning QR codes with your smartphone in a local store. Te Behind the Line feature on digital restaurant gift cards written by Lauren Kramer may make you think of a loved one far away who deserves a special meal for the holiday. Te results in our Foodservice Survey may provoke menu changes for your restaurant in 2013. I hope you enjoy these and other features in this issue, and as always, we value your feedback.
